FAQs:

Do you offer in-person therapy sessions?

At this time, we do not offer in-person appointments. All of our sessions are provided virtually through the confidential tele-therapy platform SimplePractice.

Do you take insurance for therapy?

We do not currently accept insurance. However, we can discuss superbills for out-of-network reimbursement if needed. If you’re unsure whether your insurance covers therapy, we recommend reaching out to your insurer for details on mental health benefits.

How much are therapy sessions?

Session fees vary depending on the type of service provided. Our standard 45–50 minute psychotherapy sessions cost $150 per session, and 90-minute intake assessments cost $200. We offer a sliding scale based on need and income to help make services more accessible—please contact us to discuss available options. Please note that all fees are subject to change, but any changes will be communicated in advance.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Please cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. If an appointment is canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, a late cancellation fee will be applied.

Am I a good fit for teletherapy?

Whether teletherapy is a good fit depends on several factors, including your comfort with technology, your ability to find a private space for sessions, and the nature of your mental health concerns. During the initial consultation, we will assess whether teletherapy can effectively meet your needs by discussing your goals, current challenges, and any safety or accessibility considerations. If at any point teletherapy isn’t the best option, we can discuss alternatives such as referrals to providers who offer in-person appointments or different levels of care.

How often should I attend therapy?

The frequency of sessions varies based on your needs and goals. Some clients prefer weekly sessions for consistent support, while others may attend biweekly or on a flexible schedule. During your intake assessment, we’ll discuss what schedule might be most beneficial for you.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (8-12 sessions) focused on specific challenges, while others find long-term therapy helpful for ongoing personal growth. We’ll regularly evaluate progress and adjust treatment as needed.

What should I do to prepare for sessions?

To prepare for a session, please choose a private area where you feel comfortable speaking openly, limit distractions, and have a strong WiFi connection. We recommend using headphones to improve audio quality and enhance privacy. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your appointment to test your device and ensure you can connect properly to the tele-therapy platform. We strongly discourage patients from attending sessions in public spaces.

Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Your privacy is very important to us. Information shared in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law—such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse or court orders. We’ll go over confidentiality in detail during your first session.

Can I message my therapist between sessions?

You’re welcome to message us through the SimplePractice portal for scheduling, billing, or brief follow-up questions. However, therapy itself is best conducted during scheduled sessions, and we may not be able to respond to clinical concerns outside those times.

What if I’m in crisis or need immediate support?

While we aim to provide responsive care, we are not a crisis center and may not be available outside of scheduled appointments. If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent support, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact resources like the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (dial 988) or the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).

Do I need to be in the State of Indiana during therapy sessions?

Yes, you must be present in the State of Indiana during sessions. If you are not, we will need to cancel your appointment and reschedule. We cannot provide services outside of Indiana since we are only licensed to practice in the state.

What is the purpose of psychological testing?

Psychological testing helps clarify complex mental health concerns by using evidence-based tools to assess patterns of psychopathology, emotional functioning, and personality. It can be especially helpful when diagnostic questions remain after therapy or other clinical services.

What kinds of concerns can testing help with?

We offer psychological assessments to better understand mood and anxiety symptoms, trauma-related concerns, personality dynamics, and overall functioning. We do not offer testing for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, forensic/court-related purposes (e.g., child custody), disability determination (e.g., intellectual disability), or neuropsychological issues (e.g., dementia, memory concerns).

What does the testing process involve?

Testing includes a clinical interview, completion of standardized assessments, and a feedback session. You’ll receive a comprehensive written report that includes diagnostic impressions and individualized recommendations for treatment or support.

How do I know if testing is right for me?

Testing may be appropriate if you or your therapist are unsure about a diagnosis, if treatment hasn’t been effective, or if a deeper understanding of your mental health is needed to move forward.

How long does the process take?

The full process typically takes 4 weeks from the initial intake to the feedback session, depending on scheduling and the complexity of concerns.

How much does psychological testing cost?

Fees for psychological testing vary depending on the scope of the evaluation. Most assessments cost between $1,000 and $1,500 and include the initial intake, testing sessions, scoring and interpretation, a comprehensive report, and a feedback session.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a required cost estimate for psychotherapy services provided to clients who are uninsured or paying out-of-pocket, as mandated by the No Surprises Act to promote price transparency. Therapists must give a GFE before treatment begins, outlining expected session costs, potential variations, and a client’s right to dispute bills that exceed the estimate by more than $400. Clients can learn more or file a dispute through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) at CMS No Surprises Act Info and HHS Patient Dispute Process.
